Public Consultation on Proposed Merger Regime

On 20 October 2006, the Competition Commission of Singapore (CCS) launched a three-week long public consultation on the proposed merger regime under the Competition Act as set out in the following documents:

·                 Consultation Document
·                 Draft Amendment Bill
·                 Draft CCS Guideline on the Substantive Assessment of Mergers; and
·                 Draft CCS Guideline on Merger Procedures

The CCS received 8 submissions to the public consultation as follows:

The CCS will finalise the Competition (Amendment) Bill, taking into consideration the feedback and comments received. The finalised merger guidelines will be published once Parliament has passed the Bill.
