Priscilla Seah
Legal and Enforcement
What is a day like for you in CCS?
The work at CCS is diverse and wide-ranging, and every day is different. I could be working on proposed amendments to the CCS guidelines on one day, speaking with relevant stakeholders for a merger transaction to be reviewed, or gathering information for potential anti-competitive conduct for investigations. There is never a dull day working in CCS!
Having been in the private sector, what would you say is the key difference working in CCS?
The work at CCS requires a broader view of market dynamics and long-term economic effects. You also interface with a larger number of stakeholders, such as market players and other government sectors beyond just the merger parties.
What motivates you to come to work every day?
Facing new and different challenges and experiences at work. Each case presents distinct economic and legal challenges, from understanding complex market dynamics to applying competition principles to novel industries. This variety, combined with the direct impact that our work has on markets and consumers in Singapore, makes the work constantly engaging and meaningful for me.
If you have to give advice to a new recruit, what would it be?
Being open to new opportunities, whether it is to develop your skills professionally or to take on new matters beyond the typical scope of work that you are used to, would put you in good stead. Don’t be afraid to ask questions – the people here are friendly and willing to explain!
