Focus of Commitments/ Remedies | The commitment preserves the state of competition on these two routes by alleviating any concern that the proposed alliance may reduce seat capacities. It also results in an increase in the number of seats supplied by the Parties dedicated to passengers flying to and from Singapore as a point of origin or destination along the Singapore-Brisbane route and the Singapore-Melbourne route. |

End Date of Commitments/ Remedies | 30 October 2019: Emirates was released from its capacity commitments on the Singapore-Brisbane route. 14 November 2019: CCCS has approved the application by Emirates to remove its capacity commitments for the Singapore-Brisbane route, which was provided to CCCS on 28 March 2013, in relation to its alliance with the Qantas Airways Ltd. More information can be found in the media release. 23 March 2020 to 25 March 2023: Temporary suspension of the commitment to maintain minimum seat capacities on the Singapore-Brisbane (for Qantas Airways Limited only) and Singapore-Melbourne (for both Emirates and Qantas Airways Limited) routes. 26 March 2023: Resumption of commitment to maintain minimum seat capacities on the Singapore-Brisbane (for Qantas Airways Limited only) and Singapore-Melbourne (for both Emirates and Qantas Airways Limited) routes 8 August 2024: The Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore is inviting public feedback from 8 August to 19 August 2024 on the release of Qantas Airways Limited (“QF”) and Emirates (“EK”) (the “Parties”) from capacity commitments on the Singapore-Brisbane (“SIN-BNE”) and Singapore-Melbourne (“SIN-MEL”) routes, and the release of QF from capacity commitments on the SIN-MEL route. Public Consultation Materials: 4 October 2024: Emirates was released from its capacity commitments on the Singapore-Melbourne route, and Qantas Airways Limited was released from its capacity commitments on the Singapore-Brisbane and Singapore Melbourne routes.
