CCS's Director (Legal) on GCR's Women in Antitrust List

The Global Competition Review (GCR) has named Ms Winnie Ching, CCS's Director (Legal), as one of the top 100 women in antitrust. The fifth edition of the Women in Antitrust 2016 publication profiles and recognises the contributions of women professionals from around the world who have been leaders of competition law in their respective jurisdictions.

Winnie is among other enforcers, private practitioners, in-house counsel, economists as well as academics who have received this recognition from GCR.

Winnie was appointed as Director (Legal) on 1 April 2016. She joined CCS as a Senior Assistant Director of the Legal and Enforcement Division. She had previously worked for the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission and the then Office of Fair Trading in the United Kingdom, as well as for the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority. 

Winnie has worked, led and supervised on a variety of complex cartel investigations, abuse of dominance cases and merger review. In particular, Winnie led the investigations in the air cargo international cartel involving 11 companies. Besides case work, Winnie has also led many key projects such as the CCS Legislative Review and the Internal Procedural Manual review. In particular, she has been instrumental in reviewing the Leniency Guidelines, and drafting the new Fast Track process. 

Winnie graduated from Macquarie University Sydney with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Economics. She also holds a Master of Arts (EC Competition Law)(Distinction) degree from King’s College, London.
