The United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC)’s Hearings Initiative, “The FTC’s Role in a Changing World” focused on the agency’s international work. The hearing took place in Washington, D.C. from 25 to 26 March 2019. Toh Han Li, Chief Executive of CCCS, participated in the session “Effective International Engagement: Foreign Agency Perspectives” alongside:

  • Paula Farani de Azevedo Silveira, Commissioner of Brazil’s Administrative Council for Economic Defense

  • Babatunde Irukera, Director General of Nigeria’s Consumer Protection Council

  • Chris Warner, Legal Director of UK’s Competition and Markets Authority

  • Rainer Wessely, Delegation of the European Union to the United States

  • Stephen Wong, Privacy Commissioner of Hong Kong’s Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data

Mr Toh spoke about how developing relations and technical cooperation between newer and more experienced agencies help alleviate issues relating to enforcement cooperation and information sharing.
