Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund Program: Investigative Techniques on Merger Review Workshop

Organised as part of the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund Program, the Sub-Regional Workshop on “Investigative Techniques on Merger Review” was held in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam on 27-29 March 2017. CCS’s Director of Business and Economics, Mr. Herbert Fung was invited to share his experience on the use of economic tools and analysis in merger assessment. An engaging breakout session facilitated by Mr Fung saw the participants apply economic tools in actual case studies.
In addition, CCS’s Deputy Director of Legal, Ms. Stephanie Panayi, was also invited to share Singapore’s experience on merger remedies. In sharing CCS’ experience on the conditional clearance of the acquisition by Seek Asia Investments Pte. Ltd. of Jobstreet Business, Ms Panayi highlighted the need to market test commitments offered by the merging parties so as to identify potential blind spots.
The well-received sharing sessions by CCS garnered many positive feedback from the participants.
