On 8 January 2026, CCS hosted a fireside chat with Professor Richard Whish KC, titled “The Changing Landscape of Competition Law Policy”. The session was moderated by Ms Winnie Ching, Group Director (Legal and Enforcement). It brought together a diverse audience of officers from government agencies, competition law practitioners, economists, in-house counsel from various industries as well as students.
During the fireside chat, Professor Whish shared his perspectives on how competition authorities in the European Union and the United Kingdom are adapting their enforcement approaches to meet the needs and challenges of the evolving economic landscape. The discussion also touched on a range of topics, including the intersection of competition law and emerging topics such as environmental sustainability and artificial intelligence, as well as the synergies between competition and consumer protection law.
