CCS Clears the Proposed Merger between Hino Motors Limited and Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation
7 October 2025
1. The Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (“CCS”) has cleared the proposed merger of Hino Motors, Ltd. (“Hino”) and Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (“MFTBC”) (collectively, the “Parties”).
2. CCS has concluded that the proposed merger is unlikely to substantially lessen competition in Singapore in relation to the supply of light commercial vehicles (“LCVs”) (carries a max laden weight (“MLW”) of less than or equals to 5 tonnes (including light duty trucks, vans and mini-vans, but excluding pick-ups), medium duty trucks (carries a MLW of above 5 tonnes to 16 tonnes) (“MDTs”), and heavy duty trucks (carries a MLW above 16 tonnes) (“HDTs”).
3. Following its assessment of the Parties’ submissions and third parties’ feedback, CCS concluded that the relevant markets are likely to remain competitive in view of the presence of alternative suppliers, moderate barriers to entry, the ability for end-customers to switch to alternative suppliers, and there being little to no transparency in prices as end-customers typically procure vehicles by obtaining quotations or through tenders.
