Beauty businesses should:
Provide clear and accurate information on the prices, discounts, and promotions to consumers before treatment/service is done.
Ensure any discounts or price benefits are genuine.
Ensure claims made about their products or services, such as their quality, benefits and efficacy, are true and accurate.
Review their business practices from time to time to ensure that they comply with the CPFTA.
Beauty businesses should not:
Pressure their customers into buying products/ services.
Promote products/ services to consumers in circumstances where they are unable to clearly comprehend or respond.
Make claims or guarantees about the results or effects of its products/ services which are unsubstantiated.
Engage in practices that deceive or mislead consumers about the benefits, performance and qualities of their products or services.
Tips for consumers:
It’s ok to stop a sales pitch and just say “no” if you are not interested.
Be wary of exaggerated, dubious or unsubstantiated claims.
Be wary of any claims or offers that seem too good to be true.
Research on products/ services before purchase.
