CCS Inks MoU with its Malaysian Counterpart to Strengthen Cooperation on Competition Law

1. The Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (“CCS”) and the Malaysia Competition Commission (“MyCC”)[1] have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) to deepen cooperation in the enforcement of competition law across both countries, reinforcing their shared commitment to fair and competitive markets.
2. The MoU was signed by Mr Alvin Koh, Chief Executive of CCS, and YBhg. Datuk Haji Iskandar Ismail, Chief Executive Officer of MyCC, and was witnessed by Dr Beh Swan Gin, Singapore’s Permanent Secretary (Trade and Industry) of the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry, YBhg. Dato’ Seri Mohd Sayuthi Bakar, Malaysia’s Secretary-General, Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, and YBhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Idrus Harun, Chairman of MyCC.
3. The MoU builds on the long-standing relationship between both competition authorities and establishes a framework for closer cooperation on competition matters. The MoU will facilitate the exchange of information between CCS and MyCC, as well as coordination on enforcement actions in cases of mutual interest.
4. Chief Executive of CCS, Mr Alvin Koh, said, “As geographic neighbours, Singapore and Malaysia share close and growing economic ties, and businesses increasingly operate across both markets. This MoU is a meaningful step forward in our partnership with MyCC – one that allows us to promote fair and competitive markets for the benefit of consumers and businesses in both Singapore and Malaysia.”
